Is there any further justification?!

They go on to say that "The priority is to accept interesting, original (and potentially high risk) papers." However there's no justification for why the number of papers currently accepted is...ummm..unacceptable.

Have some sympathy! There are really tight space constraints with online conferences. It's not like you can just make a new Zoom room appear magically out of thin air.

Conferences can accept papers without a guaranteed presentation slot. To make this less problematic than the concept of Findings, presenters can be drawn around topics or in a lottery.

I am curious why it is "fair"? Fair to what/whom? It looks like an assumption that papers are iid samples from some distrIbution? E.g. that there is no relation between wuality and amount. I have no statistics on that but i would be really surprised if they were iid :)
