This. And being conscious of that, I try to slow down, but that easily become artificial and awkward.

It is not only the "slowing down" that matters. The blackboard also allows the teacher to make use of the physical space in front of it, moving the students' attention from one side of the classroom to the other, while connecting ideas and building a story.

I'm lucky I can record my classes (the board and the computer screen in high resolution) and it's available for students right after class. That way I don't have to talk in a dictation rhythm (most of my students are not native Hebrew speakers) and they can watch it later
