Let's play the "gender sentencing gap" game again! Female teacher performs oral sex "on multiple occasions" on a boy, 14; avoids jail, and keeps teaching licence. What do we think would've happened to a male teacher who'd done same?https://nyp.st/2vxOf9P

Horrific. We need to get rid of the idea that boys/men always want sex and that it's a service that women provide.

We could send out that clear message by putting her in jail for child abuse. Just a thought

I'm agreeing with you, I think it's a clear cut case of benevolent sexism. It's deeply sexist to assume that a woman who is clearly a sexual predator isn't any risk.

In what way is failure to adequately punish a child predator 'benevolent'?

benevolent sexism is an expression used to describe situations in which women are given different treatment from men because of 'positive' stereotyping (aka, women are peaceful, women are sweet etc)

Doesn't apply here - the gravity of the situation depends on the likely psychological and social damage to the victim. There will be 0 social cost for this 14 y/o boy. That would not be true if it was a girl.

I couldn’t disagree more. You have no idea how mature he was, whether he even liked women. Some girls would have been fine, some boys wouldn’t have been. It’s about the person not the gender.

All fair points, don’t know the guy, but I think in terms of the social response from his peers he is much less likely to get into issues for that then if he were a girl.
