Some but not all of it. Ditto tax £ paid by migrants to fund NHS. * Are you in favour of migrants already here having right to stay (or having to leave?). Slowing future migration separate to current NHS need * So, are you waiting 7 years for training, or doing training & visas?
-
What would you do *now* Tom? Let NHS trusts have the visas they want (or tell them to wait 7 years for the additional training to come through)? * Do show me your model if you cut future migration & future population & future taxtake for eg NHS training, you somehow solve it.

I see no reason why you couldn’t fill short term gaps with working visas (where overstaying is properly prevented) but the long term strategy has to be to train more internally. Otherwise you just become dependent on foreign talent to fill skills gapspic.twitter.com/QehifUXFw2

So you are having more visas and more training! Obvs quite a few British-trained doctors in Australia too. Efficacy of your short-term visa offer will depend on what Canada, Australia offer but most people (unlike you) content for doctors to settle & become citizens after 5 years
