This was my favorite Firefox Dev feature back when they had it (or maybe it's still there?). Really neat way to get a peak into compositing and layer performance too.

It did slowly degrade through re-architecture and got removed. It is definitely always come up as an idea, but we are also looking for ways to integrate solutions for z-index/layers it into existing workflows. (Layers are also tricky, as WebRender changes the game)
