I increasingly feel that "security", as the name of a type of emergent property of whole systems, is poorly specified and should be retired.

How about using an oversimplified 1-dimensional definition: degree of security = market price for unauthorized access.

Any number of things happening to humans that don't involve code execution. Very little of security has to do with code.
