Why can't I find *anything* about people using Minsky's HAKMEM circle algorithm to do DSP tone detection? Seems like an obvious application.

I'd say almost no f. In practice (guessing) this is would work for f = 2^-7,2^-8,2^-9,... You'd be able to detect a handful tones
