I did not realize that the situation was so dire. We're in 2022 , playing with Dall-E, and a network-enabled audio interface costs north of $500 ?

I didn't know about jacktrip. Maybe that's enough to avoid my current path to yak shaving disaster :)
Still i am intrigued now about how to recover wordclock from Ethernet packet stream. But will likely be for another time...

I wonder if I only need to have a non-drifting clock reference and not an absolute time sync (i.e. i do not care about the constant delay), the arrival times of network packets should be enough to drive a PLL at the receiver end, no?
