I hope it's that easy? The trick is to make serde automatically spit out precompiled bytecode for me, and to have an async bytecode interpreter I can use to write portable hardware drivers with.

I want to make cartridges/expansion cards for powerbus that have the hardware and the driver onboard. So you could plug in a sensor card, which would have both the sensor and the necessary drivers stored on-card, so the main unit doesn't need updates to use any card

with the old 2005 Mac Mini G4 you can get in real hardware for experiments, runs from the system ROM at boot (with a hotkey)

on the old Sun workstations there was a key combination to pause unix and drop into OFW. always thought that was quite neat
