Sometimes I hear this enunciated as two sylables "de - su" instead of the common "des" sound. Is it a regional or casual/formal difference?
-
I know Japanese learners are often taught to pronounce です as "des" but it is also common to extend the ending vowels in general like 「〜ですぅ」「〜だよぉ」etc. Maybe that's what you've been hearing? I can also see some being regional differences! - Kanae

How come だすisn’t usually accompanied by を for the object?
-
Is this... perhaps a question about 出す, the verb?

How rude would it be to use だ instead of です when around a new acquaintance? I tried sticking with です on my most recent trip to Japan, but I wonder if I was coming off too formal.
-
Japanese people wouldn’t consider it too formal, however, because you’re a foreigner they probably wouldn’t mind you using だ instead of です! Just try to match their level of formality when speaking and you’ll be alright!

How do other variations on です/だ work? Like with だぜ/だわ, だよ/だね, or ですよ/ですね?
