"I am constantly surprised at how often consultants grab at problems and own them, when it would be both more efficient and valid to … coach the organization members to own both the diagnostic work and the implementation …" - Edgar H. Schein - Humble Consulting

Nice illustration of why cross-functional work can help us get a fuller view of “the whole”! The challenge being that we still need to be curious and humble, willing to listen to other perspectives.

So good. I would add "evidence-based management has been shown to improve the performance and leaders and companies." Nope. Might help. But real management and organizational problems are so messy that applying our clean, stylized, and flawed evidence and theories ain't easy

No improvements can be made without giving people time to improve. So, your first improvement item is to make space for and protect people’s time to make improvements.

Lean, Agile, Design Thinking, etc. seem like a fragmented field of competing brands with only small differences. The world's management practice may move forward faster if we focus a little more on the common broad issues.

I just spent an hour listening to customer service calls. What a great way to learn more about customer issues and getting quality feedback. As a , getting feedback from a variety of sources is very valuable.

The right thing to do is often to listen to what the framework tells us, and listen to what the work tells us, and judiciously choose, based on both, what to do. As we grow, the framework in our head becomes far more than the one on paper. 7/9

You can increase your self-awareness via introspection, meditation/mindfulness, recording yourself, asking others for feedback, 360s or other assessments, working with a therapist or coach, etc. It helps to be aware to become more self-aware.

Yes! What are some ways we can build greater self-awareness? For me, having had colleagues with the courage to offer honest feedback, has been very helpful.

At its core, Scrum aims to harness the power of self-organising, autonomous, engaged teams who take responsibility for delivery and collaborate directly with their customers.

At the end of 2020, instead of 30 Under 30 and NextGen lists, please profile middle-aged people who just got their big breaks. I want to read about a mother of 2 who published her first novel, a director who released their first studio feature at 47, THAT'S THE LIST WE WANT.

Yup, it is built on one small win after another. The best leaders and organizations are relentless about linking the little things they do each day to the big things, Having purpose and strategy is important, but the best spend most of their time tending to the details
