How bad is Senate apportionment you ask? Real bad, and it's going to get worse.
By 2040, only 8.58 percent of the population will pick a majority of the chamber.

And one fix for a really bad part of the problem. The Senate excludes the majority non white populations of DC and the territories. But by another metric, things will be way worse. The overrepresentation of the smallest state relative to the largest state (by population) will double from its current 67-to-1 between WY and CA, to almost 160 to 1. I believe we need to greatly expand the size of the house too. Locked at 435, and at a ratio of 1:750k, we essentially have two upper-houses in congress. Reps are far removed from the people, they're elitists, depend on big money donations.

I agree. At minimum, set it to the size of the least populous state (WY) so 578,000 per seat gives us a 571 seat House.

Your statistics are all based on "if we stay on our present course." But in my opinion, if we stay on our present course, the human race will be extinct by 2040 (due to climate change). So I don't think apportionment is our most urgent issue.

Seems like we have a choice then--ignore rural voters and keep losing the Senate. Or, start connecting again with folks in rural states and win back majorities.
