Merged would be more appropriate. There was no @atstake prior. There were some ‘entrepreneurs in residence’ at Battery Ventures.
The initial company roster was put together largely after the l0pht signed and agreed to give it a go.

FWIW: Even the name AtStake (with an @ for ‘At’) came after the l0pht teamed up with Battery Ventures to create the new entity. The nascent executive team considered calling the company ‘L0pht’ for a while. From one organization with public-confusing spelling to another ;)

Before everyone gets all melancholy on me, this was a necessary step, we really could not accomplish what we wanted to by maintaining the status quo. Sure our implementation could’ve been better, but I still think we made a scratch in the universe.
