For example: if there's a compute cloud where 2/3 of the network is honest then an application could self-host itself (do its own contract negotiation to keep itself alive). That's *really*

2/3 honest assumptions in networks are really powerful. I don't think we've even begun to explore the options.

I guess it wouldn't even need private keys... just some digital access where anyone could sign up and send/receive money.

Imagine a world where a central bank allowed you to hold cash using private keys (blockchain optional). That would immediately "bank" a whole lot of unbanked. I doubt any central bank would allow anonymous holders, but if it did, it would be very powerful.

I worked in this space for a while and was a founding member of the OSDI mentioned below. This thread is so accurate, the tech varies so widely between presidential cycles. I think the republicans improved in 2016 and might have moved past the democrats (using paid software)

I seem to have touched a nerve with a few Americans by saying that maybe a government had a chance of succeeding :). What if I told you that the internet happened in the US mostly due to government funding?

At the risk of getting trolled hard here, Iota is fascinating (in a bad way). Pretty much every terrible thing that can happen to a chain has happened from insecurity to attacks on the press to embezzlement... but here it is still being chosen by a corporate or two.

Does leaderless consensus with a large number of signers eliminate the front running attack on DEXes?

really feels like the opening salvo of our descent into the movie Idiocracy. I feel for my friends on that formerly European island nation. "Buy bitcoin" amirite?

Dutch/German event by was a huge success. Really interesting people, talks. Always high value. It feels like we're about to enter an adoption phase. Corporates and governments are super bullish. Startups are starting to think outside the echo chamber.

If you are ready to use blockchain use it, if not don’t use it. Don't use it for the sake of buzzwords. We need open minds to collaborate to deliver, move from theories to practical solutions Interesting to see the panel in agreement here

There’s so much compute living on the edges of the network. We all have these super computers always connected. This is where will live. We now have the tools to make this trusted and secure. It won’t look like aws, it’ll be something new.

A fun aspect of Twitter is when someone you admire (but don't personally know) likes or retweets something you posted. Even though these interactions are basically passive, they still fill me with joy.

Oh so this is really interesting "Scalable Byzantine Reliable Broadcast" by EPFL and Telekom: It seems similar to snowball but with lower communication complexity. I'm going to dive in more.
