Corporate open source programs are becoming mainstream! 53% of companies have an open source program or plan to establish one according to a new survey by @linuxfoundation @todogroup and @thenewstack. Read more about the survey here: https://bit.ly/2PP2iRL .

Data Jim mentions is only about the sample. The article takes into account possible sample bias and describes how we can use the data to estimate growth among Global 2000 companies.

Yeah, I think there's clearly growth in that space, but the 53% is really about respondents to a Linux Foundation / Todo Group survey, which obviously is going to be super high. If I understand the conclusions of the article, it's barely 2 digit otherwise?

Hey, I think my previous tweet overstated the ability to estimate the population of the Global 2000...that is the figure we care most about but were trying not to overstate the conclusions.

I’m still super confused about the last paragraph of the Predictions section, tbh. I think it would help if things were taken a bit slower there.

The article talks about estimating the percentage of large tech companies that will have programs, which will be well over 50%. The Global 2000 is a benchmark is a tougher nut to crack, but we know we interviewed at least 8% of worldwide companies with > 10,000 employees

You don’t have data about which verticals these belong to, by any chance? Because that would also be super interesting.
