    not just that you *shouldn't* annihilate someone's life with a couple of keystrokes as punishment for being rude to you; if you *can* do this, if this option is available to you, it should trigger some introspection as to where the power in that interaction was actually located

    I generally think generational politics is rather dumb, but when there's more voters above the age of 70 than under 35 you have to adjust your analytical framework.

    This is gonna be really long and tedious. Still, there's better-than-even chances the foreign ministry passes to a senior leader of the Greens or FDP - who could have the personal and political standing to revive and renew our flagging foreign policy.

    I think this is roughly it. Plus, Scholz will be in a strong position to defend any compromise internally.

    My sense currently is that traffic-light has a momentum that Jamaica lacks: the SPD came 1st and made big gains, Scholz is much more popular than Laschet, emerging alignment of FDP & Greens also helps prospects of SPD-FDP common ground. BUT no certainty and talks will be tough.

    The current wave of 'Merkel really was a desaster and Germany is now a basket case'-articles in UK publications is not without humour, given that the gas stations or super-markets where I am supposed to buy these publications are either running out of gas or food.
