To help prevent opioid abuse: 1) Ask your dr to prescribe only a limited # of opioid pills for acute pain (e.g. after surgery/injury) & 2) dispose of unused opioids from your home. The next National Prescription Take-Back Day is 4/28. Find a drop-off site: takebackday.dea.gov twitter.com/SGottliebFDA/s

How about you start by cutting the Big Pharma strings off your wrists, and look for alternatives (start with kratom), and stop worrying about Pharma profits. They are doing ok without your help. #IamKratom #kratom

Thx for making this point. As an oncologist, I know there are many w/ chronic pain for whom opioids are essential. My tweet concerned avoiding dev of addiction in pts w/ short-term need for pain mgmt (eg surgery or injury) & abuse by ppl who have not been prescribed them.

You do realize that the rules to apply for acute pain are also being applied to chronic pain people. You take a turn taking care of a 78 year old with worse rheumatoid arthritis ever seen, 3 DRs words. No meds given but 1 DR sad he would pray for her. This is wrong
