when I read about this situation it seemed unclear whether it was the child or the child's mom (who entered the center while actively sick). that was important to me as our daycares reopening plan will very much limit adult interaction.

The concept that kids do not transmit Covid is based on their lower susceptibility, not lower risk of shedding; Kids susceptibility is 20% of adults. Seems pretty unlikely that pickup/dropoff was enough exposure to infect multiple kids vs a kid shedding in daily contact for days

I think the mother spread it, that is my read

It's actually not clear that it was the child who was responsible, is it? The mother brought the kid into the daycare three days while waiting for her test results. She might well have been the carrier.

Meh, its probably worth noting that the basis for claims that kids don't transmit the virus is this same weak correlation/causation preponderance. Without thorough contact tracing that includes testing, its a meaningless debate...

And, yet, some people are encouraging schools to open where infections like this are bound to occur, but on a much larger scale. Children are not invincible, they could carry the virus back to their families, and people, including children, could die as a result.

Keep scaring people. The election is still a few months away. You folks have convinced millions that Covid is a death sentence for anyone who gets it. You never state that 90+% of people will be back to work or school in 2 weeks or less.

90%. That math leaves 10% sick or dead. And you say it so callously. I'm reminded of Scrooge from A Christmas Carol. “If they would rather die, they’d better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”

do you really think in-home daycare represents the model for any real school setting going forward? Can you at least acknowledge the trade-off here? Why do very few health professionals concede the counter-factual is devastating to so many? Lots of info on how to do it safely
