For anyone who is looking for queer friendly therapists in New York, I've had a great experience with the Institute For Human Identity. I've seen two A+ therapists there, and even though my insurance is out of network, I've never regretted the investment.

Rewatching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon right now and I forgot that the source of Ziyi Zhang's brattiness is that she wants to fuck, wear boy's clothes, and never get married. Icon.

It is a credit to that they prioritized strategies that did not replicate the hierarchies that had been set up in our workplace. It is possible to organize contractors & I hope the writers at The New Yorker are afforded the opportunity to demand fair treatment very soon.

Where we worked, there were disparities within editorial departments over the length of contracts, the protects afforded by them, and the compensation offered to employees who held the same positions. These discrepancies were hidden from us & only became clear through organizing.

In light of the good news about the New Yorker union & in solidarity with all efforts to organize digital media, I’d like to share a little bit about the experience of organizing with at MTV, where the disparity between staff & contractors was egregious.

Contractors can (and do!) unionize. The MTV News drive was in large part because the majority of us were permalancers. It’s a different process and it is complicated, but it’s possible. Solidarity with the and with everyone who works at the New Yorker

i mean the suspiria remake looks like it will be fine but the reticence of movies in general to melt my face off with color is fucking appalling. im tired of having to wade through the color palette of a coward for 90 minutes

On 20 June, 1951, then FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover launched the "Sex Deviates" programme. This ensured that LGBTQ+ people, when identified, would have their information passed across the government and that they would be made unemployed.

90 year old Agnès Varda has become adorably meme-able but let’s not forget how politically radical her films were & that she risked arrest for her abortion rights activism. From her newly restored musical One Sings, The Other Doesn’t playing

The peerless Agnès Varda turns 90 today - she once said "In my films I always want to make people see deeply. I don't want to show things, but to give people the desire to see." She has done just that over her extraordinary career, and we cinema lovers are grateful for it
