+1 for Phallic...Balled up socks are only acceptable until the age of 9. After that you have to start doing it right 
My wife and I have differing opinions about how to fold socks. She says mine looks phallic (left). I think hers crumples the sock inside (right).
Somehow we still manage to make our marriage work.

I have to agree with
@katelochner on this one. Dress socks would be the only exception to the crumple fold. Which, in this case, you are right as well. -
I only have dressier socks and ankle socks, which end up as balls anyway. Even when we disagree, thing work out, brother.
