Ok guys - we have a problem. Writing in too many AAA games is shit. How did we get here? A medium that does the arguably hard/expensive things in production&tech well but doesn't care at all about the stories it's telling? Is it really so hard/expensive to write good plots?
My casual observation is that we write movie-like stories for games. We’ll happily write stories for TV, for movies, or for novels, following well understood mechanics of their format. Games do not have that (yet) or have too much variety.
