I can't find any screenshots of the supposed ad. The steam forum post linked by Massively only has a claim. Am I missing something?

It does seem like all the many news sites reporting on it just link back to that guy. But could that account for all the bad reviews?

I filtered the reviews to negative only and traditional Chinese only. Ctrl+f for "廣告" (google tells me this is "advertisement"). Not many.
