1/0 = NaN instead of Inf is a fairly recent change. Math teachers were not fans of 1/0 = Inf...
really? It makes sense. In y=1/x, as x approaches 0, y approaches inf. Makes sense that div 0 would be inf.

1/0 could equally well be -Inf. Floating point has -0 as the reciprocal of -Inf, but that’s also a foreign notion.
