I dislike "defer action until sure it isn't a double tap" UI, like tapping to bring up player controls in ios video. Bad latency!

I think two-finger tap is a good method for what would've been a double tap. Simple, responsive, and ergonomic.

Until you're holding your phone in your hand and controlling with your thumb. Other hand holding a burrito.

Did both fingers land at the same time? Is there a grace period for that? Don't think it's that simple.

I'm talking about width of the press rather than the exact fingertips. iPhones and androids already use this in ways

The tip of your thumb is round, like all of the other tips of all of your other fingers. So width control is easy.

Not circular persay, but rounded off. The hardness of the press usually gives you more skin-to-screen action.
