Not sure I get gym battles. I dropped this gym's CP173 drowsy with my CP258 Pidgeot. Once he lost all HP he just kept fighting. Ended up

burning through all my Pokemon and he was still at 0hp. Is there like some finisher move in supposed to do?
Or was this just a case of servers not responding and the game client acting buggy?
