all real programmers use spaces over tabs. Just like how they put the open curly bracket on a new line.

if your IDE doesn't have an "insert tabs as spaces" option, then you need a new IDE.

anyway the real problem with tabs is that they have an undefined width. Sometime 2, 4 , or 8. Spaces are spaces. Simple.
