I don't get how web devs say that html is the "data" part. Text, images -- those are data. Am I missing something?

Like, I guess everything is "data" one way or another, but html isn't the data I care about. The words of the article, I care about.
The images in a slideshow is data I care about. Html defines the relationship of visual entities. It's not that separate from CSS.

And then html isn't reusable in a manageable way. If I write a slideshow widget, I can't just say <mySlideShow images=arrayOfPics />.
