I dislike the pronunciation ambiguity of Roman numerals in product names like RISC-V and OS X.

I dislike when there is a precedent set, and then it is changed to Roman numerals, as in the case of iPhone and Mac OS. There is no RISC-IV, so why should anybody expect the V in RISC-V to be a Roman numeral? It's "risk vee" because context suggests it is.

There were definitely RISC-I and RISC-II processors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_RISC#RISC_I … Seems pretty plausible there would have been a RISC-III and RISC-IV in between.

I googled RISC IV and got nothing. When I went to the Wikipedia RISC disambiguation, there were no pages for RISC-I, RISC-II, etc. I should've looked closer.
