gamedev twitter: Has there been any broad research using steam achievements to gather player behavior data?
On @vanguardsoh we would plot out player quest data to determine what content was played most, when players quit (early game retention), and other stuff.
I've been playing Stardew Valley recently, and looking at their achievements made me realize this. Fishing related achievements are WAY up there. Crafting 15 unique items (which is pretty easy in normal gameplay) is low by comparison to others here.pic.twitter.com/0vYLyErSBu

"The Bottom" and "Treasure Hunter" tell me people like adventuring, but there's no clear sign they also like mining (which happens in the same place as adventuring).

The fishing ones still baffle me. I don't care for the fishing mini game. Don't care for fishing in most games. But I know it's basically a meme that people like fishing in their games. It's interesting to see this idea backed up in some way by data.
