I mean, people absolutely can and should draw the line wherever they want! I guess I'm just surprised that people would draw it at "I'm ok with all the content of my docs being stored on Google's systems but I don't want them to know how I type."
If you are writing a personal piece, and you go back and forth on what you're interested in sharing about a personal issue to you, something you erased is no longer erased. It's preserved forever, and if you share it with someone, it may not occur to you how much you are sharing.

That's a fairly odd case, but not an inconceivable one. I wonder how the edits persist through the "Make a Copy" button. If someone I shared it with makes a copy, do they get my edit history in their copy? Hm.

If I remember correctly it gives you an option to keep it (or not) when copying, but I could be mistaken.

Yeah, fair point, accidentally sharing more than you intend could be a problem.

The issue is that G is picking defaults that are not sane from user POV (from surveillance business POV they make total sense). Sharing history/everything should be always elective, not default.
