Still more thoughts: There is not a lot of camera translation -- only rotation. Because of this, specular terms aren't affected much. Not much in the scene is speccy anyway. Garbage bags at the top of the stairs are the best example.

I wonder how much that helps sell it. If the camera was translating more, would it give away that it's CG? If there was a puddle, or speccier object in the scene, would it work as well?
