a corporation's real job should be to obsolete itself: solve a problem successfully, use the profits to develop a decentralized solution. instead we see, over and over again, the invention of dependence, honed to an almost incurable addiction.

Isn’t there that quote that’s like, “Any entity that solves a problem is incentivized you persist the problem it solves.”

Aren’t some problems naturally persistent? To which point a company cannot obsolete itself. Razor companies provide a way to shave, but hair continues to grow back. Farms will always need tending, watering, tools wear and break down.

I suppose if someone makes a better razor, razor makers would go out of business (or adapt to the new technology). But hair still grows and we need hair removed. The problem is still there, even if a better solution is made.

Now you just need to buy the raw materials for printing. Decentralization is achieved, except that raw material production is still centralized. And now you have a 3d printer to maintain. You have more problems than you started with.

You now have to separate your trash. (inb4 machine that automatically separates trash, which, by the way, some corporation had to produce, maintain, etc). Humans are a community and work together. Centralization isn't good, but fully decentralized ain't great either.
