Like, there are well known quotes about this. Here's just one that I happen to recall off-hand. "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

While I prefer shorter games I'd like most games to put fewer game mechanics in before shortening the game. For instance Doom Eternal and the last Tomb Raider. Way too many extra game mechanics that just deter from the core gameplay (skill trees, crafting etc.)

Definitely. It's rare to hear someone say, "I liked that movie but it was too short".

I'm actually working on a TIGHT 5-6 hour game right now. and I'm confident there is a market for a nice, one day playthrough, game that has a good story and great graphics/gameplay mechanics. without needing 400 weapons, upgrades, skill trees, etc...not a 60$ game. short & $20

Isn’t this more or less what “Double A” was supposed to be? It was a hot buzzword a few years ago with Helblade as a leading example.
