I’ve been toying around with a custom implementation of cosine(), and I’m now convinced that every game dev programmer should be using one instead of what the standard provides.
I think the findings are interesting and worth a lengthier post on, but here are the main points: 1) It's honestly not that hard. 2) Your own can be constexpr. 3) Your own can choose it's speed-precision tradeoffs, even be templated on that.
4) You'd be surprised how fast your own compares to what's in the std. 5) Your own can be inlined (std is often a call and cannot be inlined).
