Graphics programming is this weird thing where drawing a red rectangle can represent man-weeks of work. The fact that you finally see a red triangle means so much other code is working the way it should.

Then you realize your red triangle isn't the same as other people's red triangles because of color spaces, monitor gamuts, monitor calibrations, tone mappers, etc. At some point you fix that. Someone posits the fact we can't even know we see the same red anyways.
