Dear lazyweb: Can anybody point me to info about building a reasonably precise sleep on Windows that doesn't hot spin?
In fact, I went completely task driven and only enter a wait when the GPU has fallen behind. If the frame was finishing before the targetted time, it usually meant I had too many cores active, and dropping a core was the best answer with no hiccups.

If you don't do manual frame pacing you will start to overheat on light workloads for users who disable vsync (in extreme cases even just menus can do this). Sometimes you just don't have that much work to do.

Right. I have a frame limiter. The unique problem I have is tricky to describe. When I’m at a computer, I’ll try to put together something to show it for you’re interested. Not *directly* related to the thing you’re asking about.
