Interesting to see @sailtheatlas going with the server architecture they went with. Only other game I've seen do the "seamless server grid" thing was @vanguardsoh.
I worked on V:SoH. Cut my teeth on it. Not sure I would recommend it to other games.

I suspect as much as people read about 100v100 battles and geek out, most people would be surprised at how many people are actually in crowded MMO areas. 20 is very busy, 50 is chaos. 200 people is so many you can’t meaningfully interact with the individuals in it.

So the *other* reason people stop at 100 when optimizing is gameplay falls apart around that number anyway.
