Anyone telling graduate students not to have opinions online because it might impact their job prospects is so out of touch with the world that it's ludicrous, even before we get to the rest of it. WHAT JOBS?

And then we can and should get into the grossness of telling people it is not ok to voice their thoughts into the internet simply because they are the most junior colleagues in a system that rewards nothing and pushes conformity.

I hate the sentiment even if there are jobs, because my social media use shouldn’t have anything to do with my job, I’m not giving more of myself over to academia to police.
