Hey ! Are there some Slack channels worth joining out there? Obviously related to type of stuff?

I wrote a blog post about creating custom webmap animations, a topic i gave a talk on at . The examples are done in Mapbox GL, but could easily be ported to OpenLayers or Leaflet as well. Check it out:

I made this to send to everyone to who asks me to do a "quick illustration" and follows up with "unfortunately, there's no budget".

I have heard the term “geohacking” and wondered what exactly is it. This seems to be a prime example.

Is it just me, or is this map almost impossible to read with this colour scheme?

I started collecting live GPS data from buses and trains in October and planned to analyse how snow affects the public transportation in Helsinki. But... we’ve had almost no snow this year and it’s February. Damn you climate change! You’re ruining my spatial analyses!

Critique number 3: Other languages than English return quite strange results. Tried with Finnish and Swedish and got a lot of old datasets provided by ESRI 🤨

Critique number 2: In some cases you seem to end up in an endless loop with metadata and links to even more metadata but never the actual data. Frustrating.

Critique number 1: I think the search should prioritize datasets that don't have a restrictive license. e.g. in many cases if you search for a basic dataset (administrative areas), you get a result under Esri Master License Agreement 🤨

We are thrilled to have at our Conference, as he is so deep into finding new ways to visualise spatial data. He does a lot of “fake work” by night. Check out his “weird maps” on his web
