Tectonic (https://github.com/slamdata/tectonic …) now has support for streaming CSV parsing. It is in fact the only streaming CSV parser I could find on the JVM (please correct me if you know of one!). Performance, adjusted for fs2's overhead, appears competitive with Jackson (a sync parser).

Yeah I'm going to look at the iteratee lib a bit. At the very least, it gives a reasonable target to benchmark against. I still have the same problem as I do with jawn though. Namely: comparing the performance of building rows vs building columns.

Tectonic doesn't do *any* format inference right now, which is one of those things I want to add in the future. It's a tricky problem to get right.
