Is it because we have these male actors out here claiming to have to stay in character 24/7, conveniently giving them an excuse to be a whole-ass dickhead to people? How they must prepare and prepare to take on these deep roles and meanwhile women are like: "This is Tuesday."

Then again, I did see a tweet trying to say that ScarJo was some amazing actress for being able to *checks notes* say the words written in the script, so perhaps it's not about men vs women but the scourge of whiteness and white fragility rearing up again. *puts on ponder face*

because artificial, mass-produced blockbusters where actors have to read lines for movies they don't even know about to then be inserted with other actors in a scene via cg kinda ruined people's view of acting
-
No, I've seen people not get acting well before those things became the norm for blockbusters.

This reminds me of a tale of a scene where Alysson Hannigan on Buffy had to do a crying scene, and everyone on set kept asking if she was okay when it ended, and she's like, hello, acting here!

It's this weird celebrity culture thing where a) we don't acknowledge that acting is a craft that you practice at, and b) we over-identify the actor with the part. (Sorry if I sound shouty, this is a big peeve of mine. It basically ignores all the hard work of making art.)

I feel you are very right.

It’s because there are a lot of bad actors, I think.

LOL. Do they think the first role has to wear off before you can do a second role? Or get confused which century she's supposed to be in? There was a time when plenty of soap actors who would do the soap during the day and then...a play at night!

Most people don't have the faintest clue about the basics of any creative art, be it acting, music, drawing etc, so what for a seasoned practitioner would be absolutely rudimentary ends up being mind-blowing for most. Artists also encourage the mystique to bolster their brand.
