This is an important thread if you like wonderful, magical Twitter bots. Like Allison, this policy change is a last straw for me and I'm no longer going to update my bots or fill out compliance check forms or whatever. My bots WILL die off. Enjoy them while they last.

Some important stuff near the end of this podcast episode about how cute or “corporate” branding may harm the decentralized web. Also, naming the software and the service the same thing may lead to the belief that it’s a silo when it fact it’s decentralized.

Toronto folks! Lemme know if you want to say hi while I'm in your city. I get in tonight. Thinking of doing maybe an informal bar meetup one night this week but I'm not 100% sure what my schedule will be.

I just released a barebones ActivityPub server in Node.js/Express, mostly as a reference implementation for people who are trying to build their own. It can create and host social media accounts that are Mastodon-compatible!

New episode of Too Much Not Enough! and I talk about the decentralized web. In particular we discuss ActivityPub, which is a specification that Mastodon and other services are built on. Emma has questions, and I say "in theory..." a lot.
