It's a film striving to mean everything, and to be emotionally charged *every single minute* and it ultimately collapses under the weight of itself, because there isn't really much going on under the hood. And the narrative arc doesn't even make sense, when you break it down.

Forget the aesthetics and risky humor and ask: is the overall storytelling and narrative arc unlike something you might see in the MCU? I don't think so. Is the film elevated by its aesthetic? Absolutely. But it's a lot of smoke and mirrors at the end of the day.

The one criticism of EEAAO I legit don't understand is that it's like the MCU which...did we watch the same movie? I can't imagine Marvel ever doing anything as weird and risky as EEAAO.

Yeah, that's not how capitalism works bro. Maybe actually do something other than Tweeting.

My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril. Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.

You can regulate a pregnant body but not a coal plant. You can control the free speech of a teacher but not the money-as-speech of a corporation. You can coerce a child to pray in school but you can’t keep guns out of their classroom. What a world this Supreme Court is making.

If your ‘rights’ are tentatively entrenched and need to be ‘protected’ every 2-4 years, is it reasonable to call them ‘rights’

And then there are the Christians who say “now our work begins…let’s care for them.” That’s terrifying: if you can’t care for people until you win, then your theology never saw their humanity in the first place. They were only pawns in your game. That’s not of God or Jesus.

Things Biden could do: 1. Set up abortion clinics on federal land inside red states (’s idea) 2. Federal telehealth service for free abortion pills 3. Funding for abortion clinics and travel vouchers in nearby states None of this is “waiving a magic wand”

Can someone get Adam Silver on the phone and let Ray Allen play or something? This is embarrassing for the #Celtics
That means $54,000,000,000 to Ukraine in less than 4 months. “How will we pay for it” never seems to apply to wars, just the basic needs of the American people.

If y’all didn’t grow up around guns/gun owners and you want another reason to be mad: every private conversation they’re having today paints themselves as the victims in all this. The law-abiding gun owner whose life just got more complicated. I sat through a million of these

JUST IN: CNN reporter Alisyn Camerota just confronted a Republican Texas state representative who said gun reform is unnecessary because we should just “convict” the shooters: “Sir, you can’t convict him. He was killed along with 19 children in the school behind me.”

The footage of O'Rourke confronting Abbott really does show how cossetted these assholes are. They're justly and fairly mildly called out on permitting and fostering conditions for routine slaughter and it's like a bunch of drunks in a clubhouse bar being told they're cut-off.

Aren’t you slated to headline a speaking gig for the NRA in three days - in Houston, no less? You can do more than pray. Faith without works is dead.

Heidi & I are fervently lifting up in prayer the children and families in the horrific shooting in Uvalde. We are in close contact with local officials, but the precise details are still unfolding. Thank you to heroic law enforcement & first responders for acting so swiftly.

Conservatism leads to abuse because conservatism *is* abuse. It is the protection of hierarchy and unearned privilege at the expense of those without power, and the protection of institutions at the expense of the people who inhabit them.

I've never paid for something that works as poorly and intermittently as , which has all the reliability of a sketchy stream link some second cousin sent you. They advertise NBA access, but the deeper into the playoffs you get the shittier the service becomes.

In 2015 I decided on a whim to check out Tesla's battery swap station that was earning the company 9 figures in California ZEV credits, and found it wasn't real. Instead Tesla was using diesel generators to charge cars. Here's how this changed my life 🧵

In which exposition and "making sense" is valued above all else. Tenet is the superior film in most respects. A lot more fun, just as meaningful, doesn't rely upon endless exposition.

I found today's bad film take!
Quote Tweet
I have finally seen Tenet, or as I call it “all the ways Inception could’ve gone wrong.” It’s been forever since I saw a movie where I asked things like “Wait why are they here? What are they after?” Basic storytelling blocks are either ignored or purposefully made convoluted.
