I will go through it chronologically, begining with a standoff on the Ring road at around 12:30. Security forces held both sides apart & briefly reopened the road

Here, a group of the men shout insults and chant “with our soul and our blood we will sacrifice for you, Nabih” in reference to Parliament Speaker and Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri.

12:37, protesters decide to try to block the ring road some 50 meters from where the Hezbollah/Amal supporters had reopened it, setting the stage for a new confrontation.

Two minutes later, Hezbollah and Amal supporters attack those sitting on the road, many of whom were women who locked arms.

By 1:10 the Hezbollah/Amal supporters push through the security line and run eastwards, beating many protesters/media.
Here I run into @hasanshaaban just moments after he was punched, kicked in the ribs.

Shortly afterwards I’m assaulted a second time, this video shows me run past the man before he says “don’t film, dont film” and sprints towards me. Camera cuts off, I’m beaten to the ground, lose my glasses.

At 1:20 things begin to be contained at the eastern side of the Ring. Hezb/Amal supporters pushed back by ISF, Army moves to stand in front of protesters.

Soon after, I hear reports of clashes in downtown. On the scene by 2:15, I document Hezb/Amal supporters destroying the Martyrs Square protest encampment + stealing some items. It was very hard to film- few security forces.

Several fights broke out between vastly protesters trying to protect the camp who were outraged over what was happening. Here a man beats a protester with a helmet several times. Not on camera: he shouted “You want a civil war?”

2:30 and fires are being set. Still no security forces presence more than 30 mins after these men arrived in downtown.

2:37 security forces move in, pushing the Hezb/Amal supporters out of square. The guy in green w/ cap & sunglasses is giving orders to those on rampage. He continues to do so until they leave.

But the Hezb/Amal supporters then advance on Riad al-Solh. In this long video I walk amongst them, filming discretely. Then end up hemmed in between barbed wire/mob.

A standoff ensues at Khandak al-Ghamik entrance. It is 3:10, you can see some ISF trying to stop riot police from charging in, but many do anyway.
Many mopeds trashes by the ISF lie on the ground. Again they tried to stop me filming.
