Educational attainment genes work not only in children, but in parents, building social competence, and, via this, raises children's attainment

How do "more valid than any exam" AND "hasn't been tried before" get in the same paragraph? (Sydney Uni moves from exam transcript to exam plus nine(!) subjective lecturer-ratings ("understanding the actual subject" & "awareness of cultural values"…)

This is spot on: What facts do we need, but lack or are uncertain of? What models of how the world works are we using, but know there are competing theories and have no reliable tests of which is better? What problems are thought solvable, but lack solution-directed research?

Hi- you seem to be following me not because you have any real good faith intention to engage but because you want to hijack my replies to repeat the same anti-genetics arguments you’ve been peddling for decades now

Nice update on nuclear power (China building more than the entire West) and a fascinating plan by Rolls-Royce to build and export dozens of novel mini reactors.

Totall agree with this viewpoint in from - especially when traditional funders are reluctant to support high costs of cohorts. is a richly studied cohort for 25y but always on the brink. Maybe a new model needed ?.

Life expectancy back on an upward trend, thankfully: seeing it so avoidably go down was heart rending. Fewer killer drugs and toxins, and fewer people feeling hopeless.

How to get significant health effects: Confound your variable with SES: If income’s high, you switch from (cheap) eggs to (more expensive) protein. Correlational-epidemiology then sees an illusion: eggs make you unhealthy.

Every $ of healthcare spending is some entity's revenue. To bend the cost curve, we'll have to cut the revenue growth of powerful (and in some cases sympathetic) vested interests like hospitals, pharma, & doctors. If politicians aren't willing to do that, we'll never lower costs.
