After 2 days of work and a bit of revision, here is my overview video for the Damn Linux Tablet. Still some shaky footage in there but it gets the point across :)

Does anyone from Europe happen to have some Allwinner / Sochip S3 at hands? I really want to assemble a project, but I don't think I will get the ones ordered from China any time soon :( Maybe can help me out? <3

I don't have this often with my own projects but since I have this first prototype lying around I'm becoming a big fan of my Otter-Iron case :D It's just so nice to hold and look at and press the buttons. Can't wait for the screen to arrive.

Hey Twitter I need advice. This is gonna be a weird sentence. As a ballet dancer I like wearing combat/paratrooper boots but my last pair is dying after <10yrs. Usually they make it closer to 20yrs. These were the best but didn’t come in a < men 6. Suggestions on new options?

If you enjoy my feed and my projects, consider supporting me on ko-fi, any bit helps in getting more PCBs and parts :)

Cardboard box did the trick. But this print might be cursed.

Here compared to an Ersa micro soldering iron. Its actually not much thicker on the base shaft. Rather appropriate if you consider the tip length. The round case feels also much nicer than this odd oval shape of the TS100.

Gave the Otter-Iron case a quick paint job. Looks pretty professional if it weren't for those print defects in the middle :D

Oh right I'm missing the OLED. Will take a while until LCSC can ship again. The idea is to raise it up a bit with some foam tape to allow this thicker case.

Once again, check out OtterIron PCB. This would be very pointless without this amazing work: Regarding the files for the case, I will publish them soon. I just want to work out some more minor details before throwing it out there.

I tackled the custom fuse holders last time, the only weird part remaining was the collar shaft that actually holds the tip in place. The tips got an odd 5.45mm diameter but a 6mm off the shelf collar shaft works great! They are VERY cheap to get too.

Inside look, the other half just slides on top. ('fuse' holder not soldered on yet)

I worked on a full OSHW case for USB-PD enabled TS100 drop-in replacement PCB. The hand feeling is really quite nice, I like it a lot more than the original TS100 case. Now all you need are the cheap tips for a full open source soldering iron :)

Yay, my badge got a working screen again thanks to Btw. someone ordered screens from that original taobao seller and the screens apparently worked without driver modifications. So the it seems they did not change drivers after all!
