Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes against Syria without Congress’s approval is illegal. We need to stop giving presidents a blank check to wage war. Today it’s Syria, but what’s going to stop him from bombing Iran or North Korea next?

But actually it isn't. The War Powers Resolution requires the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days without a Congressional authorization.

You'd have a great point if not for the extremely questionable constitutionality of the War Powers Resolution. And yes, it's a both parties problem.
