Virginia is honored to be able to help our Afghan allies by providing resources and housing. That’s why we are asking the administration to make sure we’re prepared to continue assisting this worthy operation.

On this first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, I join millions of Americans in recognizing and celebrating the immense contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities to our nation. Virginia and the US are infinitely stronger, richer, and better off because of our diversity.

We have said for months that we won't give up on this issue because it lies at the very heart of our American values. I'm proud to have worked with many of my colleagues on this critical legislation—now let's go get it passed.

This legislation includes commonsense measures like automatic and online voter registration, uniform early voting, a public holiday for Election Day, and improving vote by mail access. It also works to promote election integrity and prevent interference and partisan subversion.

I was a civil rights lawyer for 17 years, lived through a violent attack on the Capitol by people wanting to overturn an election, and am watching state legislatures scheme to reduce the ability to vote. The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy—we must protect it.

Today I'm joining my colleagues to introduce the Freedom to Vote Act—legislation that will ensure eligible voters across the country get access to the ballot. We must protect the right to vote and strengthen our democracy, and this is a critical step forward in that fight.

Proud to rally for . Our enemy is not just a changing climate—it’s a fossil fuel-controlled Congress who has fought tooth and nail against what we need to do to defeat climate change. Now is our moment to take action for our citizens and for our environment!

Proud to see this comprehensive voting rights protection law being signed today—Virginia is leading the way on this existential issue, and Congress must follow suit. A voting rights bill is the best antidote to the Big Lie and dangerous attacks on our democracy, period.

It’s far past time for Congress to repeal outdated war authorizations and reclaim our constitutional responsibility to have full congressional debate before sending our men and women into war. Glad to be working with on this critical issue.

Sunday column: For 20 years Congress has complained about presidents - 2 Ds, 2 Rs - unilateral decisions on war. And for 20 years Congress, led by Ds and Rs, has done nothing to rein in WH. & are trying to fix that.

Honored to join Arlington Fire Chief David Povlitz today at the Arlington County Fire Department September 11 Memorial Ceremony. We're here with 200 first responders—many of whom responded to the Pentagon on the day of the attacks. I'm profoundly grateful for their brave service.

And it's why I've been steadfast in opposing wars initiated without congressional debate and approval—the consequences are so great that initiation and maintenance of war must be done with care and close oversight. If the last 20 years have taught us anything, it should be that.

In my work as a member of the Armed Services Committee, I think about that sacrifice every day. It’s why I'm so committed to ensuring our troops have the resources to defend our nation and that our veterans and military families have the support and benefits we promised them.

The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is a somber and emotional occasion, particularly in Virginia. Our Commonwealth suffered directly that day, and thousands of Virginians have served and sacrificed in the 20 years of war since then.

Today I join my fellow Americans in remembering the nearly 3,000 lives that were cut short on 9/11, honoring the first responders who risked their lives to save others, and extending my deepest appreciation to all who have served our nation with honor since that tragic day.

Amy Klobuchar is one of my best friends in the Senate. She works hard with her head up and a smile on her face. Anne and I are thinking of Amy and her family today and are so glad she is doing well.

I am very sad to hear this news.  began shortly before I moved to Richmond and has been great at spotlighting RVA’s strengths while challenging us too.
