Last year in Flookburgh I was heartbroken to meet a man and his 7-year-old daughter who hadn't been able to see her mum for 8 long months because of cruel Home Office rules. A year later and I'm so glad to say that after loads of hard work we managed to get the family reunited.

This should not be a cause for panic - but we must be careful. Vital we continue to follow the guidance & remember that risk of transmission is much lower outdoors But the most important thing that we can do to protect each other is to get your vaccine when you get called up 💉

I see lots of tweeted pictures from excited people at airports. You can be sure that you won’t be able to fly to anywhere as beautiful as the Lake District

🏃 A massive good luck to the amazing athletes taking on the epic feat of doing 10 marathons in 10 days, running 10 laps around Windermere to raise money for the Brathay Trust and the wonderful work they do in supporting young people and their families.

Day 2 done! Another fabulous day around the lake. It felt like a real life episode of and despite trying to keep my “Ferrari” legs under control I somehow managed to run it 20 mins faster than yesterday 😳

Lovely to see so many people out and about on my run this afternoon - I was, however, worried I’d miss some FA cup final excitement... got back home to find that I’d not missed anything!

For the good of the country, I so much want Labour to stop being such childish, tribal wombats and recover... but then they go and act like childish, tribal wombats and I shrug and think (however fancifully) ‘let’s just replace them, they deserve to go down the plug hole...’

It is true that urgent NHS cancer referrals are up by 50,000 in March 2021 compared to March 2020 but, the numbers of cancers diagnosed was less than March 2020 (27,729 v 28,881), with less screen-detected cancers diagnosed (1,806 v 2,297)

When I was a kid, if someone had offered me a deal where Rovers would win the league (and then the league cup) and be brilliant for a few years.. but then be utterly disappointing for most of my life, I’d have taken it like a shot. Still can’t believe this happened. What a team!

Calorie labelling on menus is ineffective, and dangerous to people affected by eating disorders. We’ve drafted a letter asking your MP to oppose this legislation - take action here:

Local MP has opposed the government's plans to introduce calorie labeling on menus in restaurants and cafes with 250 or more employees. The government say the measures form part of a strategy to tackle obesity and so people can make informed choices when eating out.

Department of Health plans to introduce calorie labelling on restaurant and takeaway menus may be well-intentioned, but they sadly risk exacerbating mental health issues for people with eating disorders. I've written to Matt Hancock asking him to ditch these plans immediately.

It would take 15 months at 110% capacity to clear the backlog - the Government must commit to funding the cancer workforce to protect lives.
