On top of these debts were huge interest rates that robbed our local hospitals of millions of pounds every year which we have long been pushing for the Government to axe. It shouldn't have taken a crisis for this to happen but very good news all the same.https://metro.co.uk/2020/04/02/nhs-13400000000-debt-written-off-help-coronavirus-battle-12500380/?ito=article.amp.share.top.twitter …

Don't make it political Timothy, just embrace how this government is acting. We both know that this wouldn't be happening under previous Tory governments, or Blair to be honest

If you look at the manifesto the tories ran on that election they were planning far steeper cuts, the thing about government is you have to make the tough decisions, I. E. Cuts when required, shutting down the economy if needed etc.

Great news but @timfarron how does he have the powers to do that? Unless he is the creditor they owe the debt to I don't understand how he can announce it. Whatever the logistics of it though, its badly needed.

Also, the funding needs to be put in place to cover the NHS costs moving forward or the same thing will happen, their debt will continue to slowly grow again.

Let’s hope this is not evil scheme to make the NHS more sellable. Wouldn’t put it past these charlatans
